Michael Pearce

As Kansas’ most prolific outdoor writer and photographer, Michael Pearce has shared all aspects of our hunting and fishing lifestyle. That includes how to end those experiences with meals that are delightfully flavorful, healthy, and remarkably simple.

He’s long said no wild game dinner should take more time to prepare than to consume, nor require expensive ingredients not already found in most kitchens or in small-town grocery stores. Yet his preparations have been good enough that his donated “Beast Feast” cooking services have raised over $5,000 for charities several times.

Michael will be doing on-site cooking demonstrations, including with meat from two of Kansas’ most challenging wild game species – geese and ducks. Free samples will be available, while the supplies last at the events.

He’ll also demonstrate other recipes from his book, “Michael Pearce’s Taste of the Kansas Outdoors.” As well as over 50 recipes, the combination coffee table/cookbook features some of his best outdoors photography and writing. It was named a “Notable Book of Kansas,” the state’s highest recognition for authors. A limited number of the books will be for sale after the demonstrations.

Kansas Shed Dogs

Gideon and Danielle Fuchs, hosts of the “Kansas Shed Dogs Podcast”, started training and shed hunting with their dog in 2016.  They stumbled across shed dog trials and quickly established success, placing runner-up in the junior division and 5th overall at the World Championship in April of 2018.  Since then they have added two successful shed dogs to their crew and travel the Midwest competing in the UKC Elite Shed Dog Series.  They have placed top 6 in the nation two additional times.  They have the only UKC sanctioned club in the state of Kansas and have hosted nine shed dog trials.  Gideon and Danielle chat with shed dog owners across North America trading ideas and helping people in their training journey.  Gideon and Danielle started “The Kansas Shed Dogs Podcast” to help shed dog owners have success around the world!
